Synopsis:
The Camilla Randall Mysteries…
If this is your first time with author Anne R. Allen then there can be no better way to hit the ground running than with this delightful Camilla box-set.
The Best Revenge is actually a prequel to the highly acclaimed Ghostwriters In The Sky, and takes us back to Camilla Randall’s early years, when she first met Plantagenet Smith.
Ghostwriters In The Sky fasts forward to a more mature Camilla Randall, hoping to have an easy ride at a writers’ conference in California. Needless to say fate has other ideas.
In Sherwood Ltd. Anne R. Allen conveys Camilla to the merry England of Robin Hood legend, where of course Camilla once again ends up in the most improbable, but always believable, circumstances.
Together, these three novels make up the Camilla Randall Mysteries. So far. But Anne will be bringing us more Camilla in the future, fear not.
My Review:
I am a mystery buff at heart. I would rather have a book in my hands that has so much mystery that with every turn you don't know what to expect. Some of my first books were mysterys, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys just to name a couple.
So when I came across a post on this book, The Camilla Randall Mysteries Set by Author Anne R. Allen, well let me say that I was not going to let this one go by me with out at least giving it a read. Boy Oh Boy am I SO GLAD I DID!
This is three books in one, that alone is an amazing deal. Then you add mystery in each one and there you go. The cover alone caught my attention. I mean, come on, three books on a self with four pairs of shoes!!! And then just look at the covers of the books on the self on the cover of this book. Yea! I know!
The first book inside the cover of this absolutely amazingly written set of mysteries is: The Best Revenge. My first though on this was: Who has never ever thought about ways to get revenge on someone that has hurt you? While laughing at myself for thinking this I started reading this first in the set. I had a love/hate relationship with each character within the amazing pages of this very well written book. Each chapter flowed and keep you on your toes. My imagination was running wild. And I loved it all.
The second book: GHOST WRITERS In The SKY. This book was, lets see, almost as good as the first. By that I mean that I still was on the edge of my seat waiting for the next shoe to drop. But there was a few spots that was a little bit slow. But again I was rewarded for continuing to read on. And for that I am still amazed at the way author Anne R. Allen has a way with writing mysteries. Her way with getting you hooked and then turning the page on to someone else as the bad guy or lady or just the mystery of love n hate has a fine line. I love the way she writes her characters as though you might actually know them if you saw them on the street.
The third book: Sherwood Ltd. was the last book. Was not to sure of this one. But after the second and all the twists and turns in the first I was not going to give up. And once again, I am glad I did not. I am going to leave you with a taste of this one and let you see where it takes you. Yes I did say I was going to give you a taste or lets say a teaser from this one. And I know I normally do not do so, but for some reason it just fits here and will let you know that it is well worth reading these three mysteries rolled into one book. So for the teaser:
"I clutched the glass-filled bad, ready to use it as a weapon."
"They don't eat people, do they?" "Wild Life"
Okay there you go! What do you think about this book? What is it about? What are they talking about here? Well guess what you have to read the books to find out!!!
So there you have it. The main cover: I loved. The three covers within: I loved.
The characters, all of them for the most part yes a love hate relationship... why, well you have to read to know.
The plots for all three: Were awesome
The endings for all three: I WANT TO HAVE MORE!!!!!!
Okay, with all that, yea I know it is not a lot but with that being said: I am giving this book and this author a Breath of Life rating of:
Five Clock Rating:
Disclosure:
I did received the above book in exchange for my honest opinion and
review. Opinions are my own and yours may differ.
