Book Description:

A dusty attic, an old chest, a daughter's engagement and a father's long held secret. Welcome to Dandyflowers, Jordan T. Maxwell's debut novel. Dandyflowers will take you on a gripping and whimsical trip from the present to the past and back again. Mr. Maxwell masterfully weaves the story of Jerry Collins and Laura Butler who find each other in a small, rural Missouri town during the turbulent 1960's. You will experience the full spectrum of emotion as Jerry and Laura live and learn and love and grow, but most of all as they love. Together.

My Review:

Well let me start out by saying that I won the audio version of this novel back in December. Was not sure about listening to a book because I had never done it before. But it on in the car one afternoon while driving around to do some errands and fell in love with the novel. So now I will get into my actual review.

The Author Jordan T. Maxwell has written a story of young love starting out, along with a father who loves his daughter so much, but has a hidden secret about his past that once his daughter, Erin, becomes engaged for the first time, he decides that it is time to tell her about himself.

Jerry Collins is a fine young man from a wonderful family, who meets his true love Laura Butler on her first day of school.  Laura's family was just as wonderful. Both Jerry and Laura were raised with what some might say "Old Fashion Values".  But became almost inseparable.

As Jerry started talking with Erin concerning his life, you fall in love with the characters and the place in which they grow up. Jordan T. Maxwell's writing of this novel grabs you and pulls you right in to the middle of the Collins and Butlers lives.  I would some times get in the car and drive just to have the quite time to listen to the story. Could not wait to hear what was going to happen.

Erin learns how to build on her love and how that her father loved another before he loved her mother. She watches and listens over a period of a weekend about how he still has old feelings and still hurts, loves and respects his childhood love.

I loved how the story came together. How it flowed and really took you back into Jerry and Laura's child hood.  As for it being my first Audio Book, it has given me a desire to get more. I really enjoyed how the descriptions of the families and places really drawed you in. Not to mention the fact that I did not have to hold the book or turn pages. Jordan T. Maxwell has captured my attention and will be looking forward to reading or listening to more novels written by him.

For those reasons I give this novel a rating of:

5 Clock Rating!

I like the sound of this book! I've never done an audio book either, but I'll have to give it a try sometime.

What a great review!!! Thank you very much for the kind words!

There is a second book in the series titled "Dandyflowers - Laura's Diaries"! Unfortunately it is only available as a print book.

I am in the finishing stages of re-releasing both books with new covers & as e-books! Check the web site: www.dandyflowers.com for updates on this and the stage play adaptation of "Dandyflowrs"!

Cheers!
