Synopsis:
Two nights after her eighteenth birthday, Lily is attacked while out jogging, but is saved by Tharin Lunar, a Sidhe prince. When she discovers that her attacker is her own brother, Lucas, who disappeared four years ago, Lily refuses to believe that her brother would truly hurt her and becomes determined to find Lucas and bring him home. Lily finds that Lucas’ disappearance is somehow tied to Tharin; so when he informs her that she is his betrothed and must return with him to Velesi, fulfill a treaty between their families and unite the two strongest clans through their marriage, Lily agrees. However, she’s not going to Velesi for a wedding, but to bring home her only family, Lucas.
On their journey to the borders of Velesi, the realm of the Thirteen Clans, they’re pursued by a Sidhe assassin group call the Ange, meet with an ogre crime lord that ends badly, deal with a sleazy troll motel manager, and when they discover that there’s a bounty on their heads, they must keep one step ahead of every assassin, bounty hunter and low-life criminal in Velesi.
Protecting Lily has become the biggest challenge of Tharin’s life. Lucky for him he has help in the form of his twin brother, Tolan, Lily’s best friend Julia and his three bodyguard cousins.
My Review:
All right readers, another fantasy only this one has some twist that you don't quite see coming. Author L. Filloon has a way with words and creative story building that leaves you wanting to learn more not only the main characters but the others as well. It has been a little bit since I read this first book in the series, The Velesi Trilogy #1. But let me say that I will be checking out the next book. And if it is like the first I will be getting the third not long after. The cover caught my eye right off the bat, and I knew I needed to find out who this lady was sitting here with a beautiful big black cat. As you can see it only shows part of her face. But this cover is gorgeous!
Now for the characters let me say that I could tell that the author had started out with some of the back ground but left them to grow the more you read. In other words they pulled me in a little at a time. Always wanting and hoping that in the next chapter it would tell me more. I am not going to give away any of the book. The Synopsis is great to pull you in if you love mystery, intrigue, fantasy, love stories of young being promised to each other but not sure after growing up if it is what they want. Then this book or series is for you. So for the reasons above I will be giving this book (and if I had a higher one I would give more)
My Breath Of Life Rating of:
Five Clock Rating!!
Disclosure: I did receive the above book in exchange for my honest opinion and or review. But the Opinions are my own and yours may differ.
About the Authors:
L. Filloon was born in Leone, American Samoa. At a young age her family relocated to Hawaii and settled on Oahu. In 1977, her father once again relocated the family, this time to San Diego, eventually making National City, California their home. Although she started writing during her junior high school years, it wasn't until late 2011 that she self-published her first book, The Binding; the first in The Velesi Trilogy. Book 2, The Drifting, will be available on Amazon.com for Kindle on November 9, 2012. The final installment to be released in 2013.
